Feeling exhausted? Overwhelmed? No time to catch your breath?
You are not alone. Many people are struggling with feeling overwhelmed right now. The constant noise, pressure to keep up, and endless expectations can leave anyone feeling drained.
And it’s no wonder we feel so overwhelmed. We live in a workaholic, hyperactive, doom-scrolling, “keep-up-with-the-Joneses” (or maybe Kardashians) society that glorifies productivity and treats rest as weakness. Burnout has become a badge of honor, and slowing down feels almost indulgent. But peace was never meant to be earned—it’s meant to be remembered.
But rest isn’t laziness—it’s resistance, healing, and self-preservation.
When life feels overwhelming, slowing down helps most.
- Start with your breath—take a few deep, steady inhales and exhales to calm your nervous system. Focus on one thing you can control, even if it’s small, like cleaning a space, taking a short walk, or writing out your thoughts.
- Reach out to someone safe who can listen without judgment. We heal in relation to others, and we are stronger together, in community. Ironically, so many of us retreat or self-isolate when we are feeling mentally drained.
- Learn something new or practice a creative hobby that is meaningful to you. We consume more than we create. It is time to make art instead of content.
- Remember to rest, eat, hydrate, and reconnect with nature when you can. Overwhelm is a signal to soften, not push harder—give yourself permission to pause and reset.
- Journaling helps release mental clutter and make sense of your emotions.

Remember this: We live in a culture that prizes constant output and self-optimization. But humans aren’t machines—we need rest, connection, and meaning more than endless achievement.
